Australian ArmyAustralian soldier Corporal Adam Santucci, a medic with Mentoring Task Force – Three, looks out into the town of Saghaytu during an Afghan National Army coordinated clearance of the Khod Valley, southern Afghanistan.
Mid-caption: Australian mentoring, engineering and combat teams from the Townsville-based Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, who are in Afghanistan as part of Mentoring Task Force – Three, recently conducted a clearance in and around the town of Saghaytu, Uruzgan, southern Afghanistan.
Part of a wider clearance of the Khod Valley, Operation Tahitian Queen was coordinated by 1 Tolay, 6 Kandak, Afghan National Army, and involved other force elements from the International Security Assistance Force.
Australian Defence Force personnel are currently serving in Afghanistan as part of Operation Slipper – Australia's military contribution to the international campaign against terrorism, maritime security in the Middle East Area of Operations and countering piracy in the Gulf of Aden.
